A quick post today – the first salmon recipe of 2022! I wonder how many more there will be… š I came across this recipe for Slow-Roasted Salmon with Harissa on the Bon Appetit website and loved the idea that it looked so easy! I had harissa paste in the fridge to use up and all the other ingredients, so all I needed to get was the salmon.
I find that harissa paste is pretty easy to find in most grocery stores now. The one that I used was from Trader Joe’s, but I used to see it in Hong Kong at my local Marketplace by Jason’s (in a yellow tube), and I’m sure that many other places have it. You can even make it from scratch if you are particularly ambitious. It can vary a lot in spiciness, so make sure to test yours first and adjust the amount if you are sensitive to spice or are serving people who are.
The only changes that I made were that I used less olive oil – probably 1/4 cup instead of 1/2. I thought is was more than enough. I’m realizing now that I may have forgotten the garlic clove, too, and it was fine without it if you want to make the recipe even easier. I served the salmon with some coconut rice and a drizzle of hot honey and my husband and I ate half of it in one sitting.
Bon Appetit has gone to a subscription-based model now, but as many of the recipes that I use on a daily basis are from their website, it was a no-brainer for me to sign up. The $40 a year cost works out to less than $0.11 a day, which is well worth it for me personally. If you don’t have a subscription, I think you can still view a few recipes for free, so hopefully you can get this one for Slow-Roasted Salmon with Harissa to add to your repertoire!
